Hi, I’m Matlgirl. This is my studio.
My studio is located in the Haynies Corner Art District in the Midwest in Southwest Indiana, just across the river from Kentucky. There are galleries & small businesses in this district all within a comfortable walking distance of each other. www.hayniescorner.com Emily Gartner Design Studio offers a large bedroom equipped with a memory foam full size bed, dorm fridge with freezer, microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker. It also boasts a turntable with your choice of over 1,000 vinyl records. There is a large private bathroom included with those accommodations too. There is a nice sized sewing room available on the same floor with vintage sewing machines from the 1940's-70's, ironing board and general sewing tools (scissors, threads, pins, etc...) The second floor gets great natural light during the day, perfect for photographing your work. Downstairs is a live/work space where I create wearable art from my original digital photos of historic landmarks. I also have a small boutique in the foyer. I like to call it "Fashion in the Foyer". Follow me on FB & Instagram @EmilyGartnerDesigns There are other galleries and museums throughout the city of Evansville. Please email me with any questions: emgartner@yahoo.com I am happy to help make a connection for you to speak about your artwork or host a show. You have most midwest cities nearby within a 2 to 5 hour drive; Louisville, Ky., Nashville, Tn., Cincinnati, Oh., St. Louis, Mo., Chicago, Il., Indianapolis, In., and Columbus, Oh. .... just to name a few. There are also two universities that you could potentially work with if I have enough notice, the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville. Evansville is a city that is very low cost in living expenses compared to other cities listed on this site. And it is a slower pace than most bigger cities. You will find enough culture in this neighborhood to keep your mind fresh and motivated. Stac Gallery is only two short blocks away and boasts a sweet coffee shop inside their gallery space. We also have Stef L' Amours vintage clothing shop on this street, as well as a handcrafted soap business, known as 6th Street Soapery. We host a First Friday each month between March and September, which provides numerous opportunities for showcasing artwork. Not to mention, the many weekend and seasonal events that fill the gaps. The Evansville History Museum is a short mile away along the Ohio River and has a beautiful greenway for walking and riding bikes. Bikes are available for rental within walking distance of the house and can be found in several key neighborhoods throughout the city. Please email me with any questions. Our city's motto is "E is for everyone"....and we really would love to host you and welcome you to the Haynies Corner Art District.
