Hi, I’m Sararmas@live.com. This is my studio.
Find inspiration at our historic property surrounded by 18 acres of quiet meadows and forest, with 1200 feet of magical shorefront on a peaceful saltwater cove. Wander among fireflies and heirloom apple trees, listen to the frogs and crickets, walk the nearby nature trail to smell wet pine and moss, witness intense sunsets over the water where seals, otters and waterfowl hunt crab and fish. Take the canoe or kayak out at dawn or dusk to see watch fog banks roll in from the Atlantic. Meditate to a distant fog horn. Peruse my art and literature library for research or relaxation. Historic Stonington is just two miles down the road. Use open studio spaces in the old barn to work. A drawing table, two large easels, a coating lab with small UV burner and some basic woodworking tools are available as well as a chemical recycling system for art chemicals. A private writer’s office with water views, tea kettle and WC is available in the parlour. Lock yourself away and finish that book! Sit in the meadow and sketch from nature. Shoot natural seascapes and spend your evenings editing or printing. This house was built in 1780 by settlers to Deer Isle, including a historic cemetery. My great uncle, artist Ainslie E Burke bought the house in 1964 as a summer retreat where he painted every summer until his passing in 1991. My sister and I now care for the property and hope to continue its legacy as an artist/writer’s retreat. You and your partner are offered a bedroom upstairs, access to all common areas and outside areas, and space in the barn to work
