For the first time since opening, we have a spot in the beautiful back room in Studio 68, which used to be the office of the building, a former picture frame factory. The building retains lots of Altbau detail, including stained glass windows and monogram radiator grilles. The studio room itself also has dark old textured walls, a (non-working) fireplace, built-in bookcases, a glass-fronted display case, and parquet floors. We're in the second Hinterhof, so the studio is quiet despite being in the heart of bustling Wrangelkiez. There are actually two spots in the back room available, which can be combined to make a larger space or separated-- we're open to different constellations. Currently the room is used by one other artist, with the rest of the studiomates in the adjoining room. The studio has a nice bathroom and a half-kitchen, and we have 24-hour access, a printer/scanner, photo lights, and a mailbox. There is an excellent art book store in the building and several design and film companies are our neighbors. The studio is perfect for painters, small-scale sculptors, photographers, and illustrators, and we're open to lots more. We are a close-knit, mostly LGBTQIA, international bunch of artists, from an illustrator to a paper sculptor to a painter. And we're dog-friendly!
